Biology

Genesis 1:21 states “And God created great whales and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind.” Biology is the study of living things.Darwin’s theory of evolution and abiogenists is not logical. Punctuated equilibrium has several major problems that they are not able to explain. God clearly states in the Bible that he created the earth and all life on it in six days. Conservative Christians view life as designed by God for His glory. Without God, who creates with design, there would be no living creatures.

Philosophy

Thoughtfully, Sir Francis Bacon observed, “a little philosophy inclineth man’s mind to atheist, but depth in philosophy bringeth men’s minds about to religion.” Reality, truth and knowledge can not be satisfactorily explained by naturalism. None-the-less non-naturalism can not adequately explain reality, truth and knowledge, either. While Karl Marx’s dialectical materialism and naturalism are not the same, they are similar. The Bible, which is the basis for the Christian worldview covers philosophy better than any other worldview. Philosophy appears in the world and is vital for explaining life and what it means.

Naturalism can not explain fully reality, truth and knowledge. Naturalists of the secular humanist thinking believe that all of reality is composed of matter and only matter. Only what can be seen. When something happens, it is explained by natural causes, because there is no supernatural. The existence of God, the creator is denied, preferring the idea that eternal matter spontaneously generated life, which science has never successfully proven. The complex human mind evolved into its present state through billions of years by accident; therefore logic and reasoning happen by accident. Going just by what can be seen, there is no logic, as it can not be proven by science.  All that can be known must be proven by science or it is wrong and does not exist. Surprisingly, not even numbers exist. When this world was created, no one was there; consequently, creation can not be proven by science either with or without a creator. The accidental earth’s complexity is greater than anything humans have purposefully accomplished. The earth can not be an accident. According to Naturalism, there is absolutely no absolute truth; but would not that be an absolute truth? Naturalism can not provide sufficient explanations for philosophy including: truth, knowledge and reality.

Naturalism can not explain reality, truth and knowledge, but neither can non-naturalism. Non-naturalism is the belief of the Cosmic Humanist that everything is a part of God and in essence, spiritual, while the physical world is just a figment of the imagination. In short, everyone is god, just “find” the god-force within first. Truth is anything that feels like truth, and if it feels like truth it is. Taking math test, someone studies that last question: two plus two, and according to the teacher the answer IS four, but for some reason the student feels like twenty-three and a half is the answer. It felt right. The student is not correct. If all truth is, one person’s opinion, then all would be in an uproar. Joseph Stalin, who was know as the bloody butcher, did what “felt” right, and killed about twenty-five million, Lenin killed about two or three million. Were these cruel deaths just an illusion? Was this evil or just an illusion? If it were possible to ask the people who died, they would not say it was an illusion. So that is truth? For non-naturalist, truth is emotive rather then descriptive. There is no need to go to school for all you have to do is “tap” into your inner self and find knowledge. Jack Underhill explains what would happen if everyone in the world were to connect with his own godhood, “They can turn off the sun and turn it back on. They can freeze oceans into ice, turn the air into gold, talk as one with no movement or sound. They can fly without wings love without pain, cure with no more than a thought or a smile. They can make the earth go backwards or bounce up and down, crack it in half or shift it around. There is nothing they can not do.” So, if every human connected with his god then they could make it so that physically life could not exist. If the earth was moved even an inch or two out of its orbit, no life could exist at all, for gravity would become either to strong or too weak, so humans would be crushed or they would just fly of into space. Ultimate reality is not material, but spiritual; therefore the philosophy of non-naturalism can not give a constant account about the basics of life.

There is a difference between secular humanist naturalism and Marx’s Dialectical materialism. Both naturalism and Marx’s dialectical materialism are atheistic, which deny the existence of God so that whatever exists must be explained by natural causes. Dialectical Materialism is the belief that in everything there is a thesis and an antithesis, which must inevitably clash. The result of the struggle is that the thesis and antithesis merge and becomes a synthesis, which is stronger, and then it attracts another antithesis and the process is repeated. Naturalism on the other hand according to Corliss Lamont “…considers man’s supreme aim as working for the welfare and progress of all humanity in this one and only life…” Dialectical materialist then would believe that to improve humans driving their cars there must be a clash to improve and it must become a complete new way of driving a car, while naturalism on the other hand will work together to improve what is already there. While secular humanist naturalism and Marx’s dialectical materialism are similar they clash mightily in an important area.

The Bible states that metaphysical dualism is the philosophy that Christians believe. Metaphysical dualism contends that the body is material in the substance while the mind is immaterial. Reality is physical and spiritual. The Christian view of metaphysics is clearly showed in scripture: John 1:1-4 states “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” A supernatural God created a physical world.  Stephen D. Schwarz quoted four particular scientific discoveries that support the conclusion that God exist: The second Law of thermodynamics (which is that is earth is running out of some imperative materials), the impossibility of spontaneous generation of life from non-life (proved by Pasteur over one hundred and fifty years ago), genetic information theory (which postulates the complex life, found in DNA, comes from a mind, not by chance), and the Anthropic principle (that the earth and the universe are made just for life to exist). Already spontaneous generation is making a stand after being proven wrong, the only change is the fact that it is now from chemicals instead of non-life. If it was proven wrong one hundred and fifty years ago, after belief for almost two thousand years and proven wrong again and again, would that not be enough to say that is not so, but yet it is being used against the Christian belief. Not only is philosophy covered in the Bible, but it has more evidence to prove and back it up than the philosophy of other worldviews.

Philosophy is the study of the laws that regulate the universe and underline all knowledge and reality. Included in the study are aesthetics, ethics, logic and metaphysics. Naturalism inadequately describes truth, knowledge and reality.  Non-naturalism can not portray the basis of life, which are reality, truth and knowledge. There are multiple similarities between naturalism and Karl Marx’s dialectical materialism, but they disagree in various areas as well. Metaphysical dualism is the basis of Christian philosophy according to the Bible. What are knowledge, reality, truth, the mind, and matter, and is there a supernatural being in control? These are some of the questions that all worldviews must adequately answer.

Ethics

Romans 12:9 states “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil: cling to what is good.” But what is        good? And what is evil? There is a universal standard for right and wrong, which is called moral absolutes. Karma does not describe ethics in a way that makes sense. Wealth cannot be a foundation for morally just standards. Once evil is accomplished, it is done and cannot be redeemed for any amount of good deeds. God’s nature, which is described in the Bible, is the basis of Christian moral norms. The imperative study of good and evil, right and wrong is called ethics.

Herman’s Horrible Happenings

Billy Boy was on a mission for the army. He loved missions, for they were so peaceful, although that was about to change. Standing on a large hill with a strong wind at his back, he launched Kite Spy 1. Proficiently, it launched as the result of years of practice. In the middle of the Arctic Ocean were two small islands, Frams, the larger island, and Hod.  Both were ruled by the Grand Servant Lowering.  Unfortunately, he had expired permanently. Since Frams and Hod could not agree on the next Grand Servant, Frams declared war on Hod. That is how Billy Boy happened to be standing on the hill clad in his Hod military uniform. His job was to spy out the enemy, from the lower heavens. Flying with the massive kite was Herman, who was his best friend. Since there was over a thousand feet of string; he was elevated by the kite high over the island of Frams.

Hanging from the gigantic kite was Herman, who was watching the rival island Frams. Satellite phones relayed communication. Because Herman reported “I am right over a hill with a hole in the middle, in the center of the island” Bill Boy knew all was well. After a pause, “I see someone riding on a kite being followed by a person on a bike.” Amazingly, the person on the bike spotted Herman at the same time Herman perceived the fiendish uniformed biker. The biker was very surprised, as that was his assignment too. The ground shook. And the ground burst open. Spewing out rock, it shuddered. Flying high, Herman had sadly disappeared in a sudden cloud of smoke.

Understandably, Billy Boy did not know what was going on. Talking into the phone, Billy Boy tried to communicate with Herman, but he had lost connection. Billy Boy, while watching for Herman, noticed a geyser of burning lava and rock, which was spewing into the air. A volcano had erupted. Hurrying to report what had happened, he did not try to find out what had happened to Herman and the enemy biker. Meanwhile, Herman was blasted into the air heading dead south; while the fiendish biker, being almost at the center of the rupture, was propelled north. The biker was sent almost straight up into outer space and several days later the Hubble telescope reported seeing a woman flying past. Herman, on the other hand, was blown to France, where the string from the kite became caught in the Eiffel Tower. After cutting himself free, he fell into a cactus display. Since the string fell at the same rate, he became impotently tangled on a massive sequoia cactus and hung by his ankle till dead as a dead door knob.

Theology

1st Timothy 6:15 & 16 declares “[God] will display at the proper time—he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion.”  God’s nature is supreme. Even though God is divine, mankind is not divine. Christians should tolerate and respect all other beliefs but tolerance does not mean agreement. Christians view God as a trinity. God is viewed by Christians as the King above kings and Lord above lords. If God were a human invention, then the Bible would have to go even though it is historically correct. God is supernatural by nature.

While God is divine, it does not automatically make all creation divine, even though he created all things. Just because someone created something does not automatically make it have the same characteristics. Webster’s dictionary defines divine, as “Godlike; heavenly; excellent in the highest degree; extraordinary.” Is all of creation divine? When anyone eats moldy bread his first response is not “this bread is just heavenly.” Stepping in a cow pie it is not natural to think, “WOW such a divine thing, that cow pie is so godlike!” No one in his right mind would think a rotting corpse is excellent in the highest degree. An author may be extremely smart, but his book could be written worse then Dick and Jane. The belief, that since God created everything, therefore everything is divine, is based on pantheism. An example is the New Age children’s book “What is God?”

There are many ways to talk about God. Does that mean that everything that everybody ever says about God is right? Does that mean that God is everything? Yes! God is everything great and small! God is everything far away and near! God is everything bright and dark! And God is everything in between! If everything is God, God is the last leaf on a tree, if everything is God; God is an elephant crashing through the jungle.

If one characteristic is passed on then should not all of God’s characteristics be as well: omnipotent, omniscient and disembodied? Can anyone be everywhere and nowhere besides God? Has anyone heard of an omnipotent or omniscient being other then God? One characteristic can not be singled out from countless others, when following this logic. Consequently, God, who is divine, does not come close to comparing with anything in creation.

The view Christians take of God is that He is a King of Kings and Lord of Lords. God is triune with three parts: God the father, the Son, who is Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Historically, Jesus lived, died on a cross and then lived again; he was even seen after his death and resurrection, alive, eating and drinking. Jesus is believed by Christians to be the truth, the way and the light. In addition He is the intercessor between God and man. God the Father is the judge, ruler and creator of all, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. God is supreme. Revelations 17:14 states “They will wage war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over them, because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.” Someday, any day Jesus will come again and take all of the called, chosen and faithful followers back to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Because God no longer speaks verbally to man, he has given Christians the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit directs prompts and rebukes always in agreement with the scriptures. Christians view God as a holy savior, a sovereign and just judge and a spiritual guide.

God and is far too complex to be a human invention. If God was a human invention, then why would historical facts, which are true match up again and again with what is found in the Bible, which is the word of God, given to man even though mankind did nothing to deserve it. If God was a human invention, then there could be no miracles. There are 333 miracles in the Bible; Jesus preformed at least 35 of them, with the final miracle when Jesus returns to earth for the second time. If God was a human invention, then there also would be no salvation or prophesy. There are hundreds of prophesies in the Bible that have been fulfilled. In Psalms 22:18, talking about Christ’s crucifixion, it says “They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment.” significantly later Matthew 27:35 declares “When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots.” The time span between the deaths of King David, who penned this psalm and the death of Jesus Christ was about one thousand years. It was prophecy fulfilled. If one believes in atheism then one can not believe in prayer, but then what about the answers to prayer that have occurred, which has transpired too often to be marked as a false cause. The Bible is far too accurate with history to be just tossed off as a fairytale.

Christians should respectfully tolerate other religions, but not the way that tolerance is meant today. Christians should not tolerate other religions as today’s modern culture defines it “allowing and agreeing,” but as Webster’s defines it as “To recognize and respect (others’ beliefs, practices, etc.) without necessarily agreeing or sympathizing.” If Christians should “tolerate” other beliefs, then would not it be reasonable for other religions to as well? In Yemen, which is on the Arabian Peninsula, only 0.05 percent of the people are Christians the rest are Muslim; but unfortunately it is illegal to convert to Christianity. The penalty is death. Historically, the constitution that founded this country was based on biblical Christianity, with allowance or tolerance of other religions. There is no penalty to convert to any other religion, no penalty at all. True Christians respectfully tolerate other beliefs, although they do not agree.

Christians view God as triune: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Man has found that three in one is stronger and longer lasting than one. For example, God being three in one is like our powerful government: the House, Senate and President. They are all separate entities, but each one is an essential component of the single body, which is called the government. Each one has authority, but can also restrain one another. A single stranded rope, regardless of size is weaker than a braided rope with three strands. Throughout nature, there are examples of a trinity. Although a triangle is one object, it has three very distinct points. With time there is past, present and future, yet they are all summed up with concept time. Matter is the basis of all things which means all liquids are matter, all gases are matter, and all solids are matter. Three in one, again. Incredibly, length, depth and height all are measurements of space. Christians profoundly believe God is three in one just as it is stamped throughout creation.

God is the just judge and supreme ruler above all, without any fault. God’s divinity surpasses everything, but the creator is not the creation. All Christians should practice tolerance, but they do not have to conform in anyway. God is triune just the same as a triangle has three points in one body. Wonderfully merciful, marvelously excellent and leading is the view Christians take of their God. To say that God is not a human invention is a strong statement, that carries a great deal more than just God. Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God.
